As we end the regular tournament season, we hope that the San Diego Epilogue will serve as a fitting finale for all…and an encouraging entrance to NITOC for many.

Why not Debate? Some of you have asked why Debate is not being offered at Epilogue 2017. The answer is simple. New Life Church has limited the available rooms for our use, making a full tournament impossible. We sincerely hope that your NITOC qualifying needs for Debate can be met at other tournaments, but if it's IE checkmarks that you need, then we look forward to seeing you in San Diego, April 28-29, 2017.

Part One: Tournament Entries

Competitor Eligibility: Any student who meets the requirements set forth in the Stoa Eligibility Rules may participate. Eligibility Rules are found at the Stoa Membership website.

Dress Code: Participants should adhere to Stoa dress code guidelines during the tournament. These can be found at the StoaUSA website.

Entry Procedure:
Please click on STUDENT REGISTRATION at the top of this page and complete the steps in order to reserve a space at the tournament.

INDIVIDUAL EVENTS
We are offering twelve IE events. Speakers may enter up to three (3) events per pattern, with a maximum of five (5) events total.

Duo competitors should check with their partners to ensure that they are also registered. A team is not registered until BOTH partners are registered. Because of the very limited space, EACH student of a DUO team MUST be fully registered and payment must be completed by the close of registration on April 4 at 8:00 PM. Otherwise you will be removed from that event, and we will contact the next team on the waitlist.

Note: We reserve the right to collapse and/or cancel events should they not have a minimum of three (3) students registered by the deadline.

Entry Deadline: Entries received after 8:00 PM on April 4, 2017 may not be accepted. After your entry is completed, you will be able to print a confirmation page from the registration site.

Part Two: Financial Responsibility

Payment: Tournament fees are paid electronically at the end of the registration process by clicking the "Pay" button and following the prompts.

-Only electronic (PayPal) payment will be accepted for all registration fees.
-Credit cards can be used through PayPal.

Registration is not complete until your fees have been paid.

Epilogue Entry Fees: $25 per Event

Epilogue Drop Fees:

  • You must email the tournament at sdepilogue@gmail.com in order to drop an event.
  • If you decide to drop an event prior to 8:00 AM on Friday, April 7, we can offer you a refund. After that, we will have made all plans based on the numbers we have registered and there can be no refunds in the event of a cancellation.
  • Events dropped between April 14-April 27 will be subject to a $15 fee per event, payable online with PayPal.
  • Events dropped on April 28 will be subject to a $25 fee per event.
  • Student ballots will not be released until any outstanding fees are paid.

Stoa Membership Fees
Participants must be Stoa members in order to participate in this Stoa Qualifying Tournament. Please ensure that your family affiliation is renewed and that the student information is correct before attempting to register for this tournament. Affiliate registration will not be offered on site at the tournament. Please go to the Stoa Membership Website for more details on becoming a Stoa member.

Part Three: Judging & Timing Responsibilities

JUDGING RESPONSIBILITIES
To ensure that the tournament begins (and ends) on time, we need to have commitments from parents to judge!

We expect parents to present themselves at ballot push a minimum of every other round. There are eight rounds at this tournament - 6 preliminary rounds, and 2 outrounds, so expect to judge a minimum of 4 rounds.

It’s understood that the two outrounds on Saturday will present club and individual conflicts in judging. Please gather near ballot push 30 minutes prior to each outround to see if you are able to take a ballot.

Thank you for understanding the judging needs and for your cooperation in filling them. Each event that your student is registered in generates a need for judges. If your child is registered in only one event, this does not translate into a requirement to judge only one round. We hope you see judging as an opportunity rather than an obligation. Registration for the tournament requires “all hands on deck” at the tournament. See you all at ballot push.

Qualifications: Judges are considered non-participants over 18 years old who are eligible based upon the Stoa criteria. This usually means parents, parents of other club members, former debaters who are high school graduates, or friends in the area.

TIMING RESPONSIBILITIES (This is for everyone who is reading this!)
Entrants are asked to provide a volunteer to serve as a timekeeper. Competitors who have a free round, family members, and friends can volunteer to time. The Timing obligation for each family is in addition to the judging requirements. Please check in at the Timer Table.

Part Four: Check-In

Day of Tournament Check-In is Friday, April 28, beginning at 8:00 AM.

~ Those registered for events in Pattern A, must be checked in by 8:30 AM.

For those who are NOT entered in Pattern A events, we are offering two other check-in times

~ 9:30-10:30 AM - Those registered for Pattern B events must be checked in by 10:30 AM.

~ 12:00-1:00 PM - This is for those only registered for events in Pattern C. Must be checked in by 1:00 PM.

Part Five: Miscellaneous

  • We request that you not set up canopies, tents or banners.
  • You are welcome to bring your own food, but we request that all coolers be stored in your cars.
  • In the church building, food is only allowed in the Fellowship Hall.
